Telling Stories the Soil Remembers.

Sweet Soil Narratives is a storytelling and film production company rooted in the rich legacy of the Black South. Founded by Castel Sweet, PhD—a community builder, embedded sociologist, and filmmaker—Sweet Soil Narratives is dedicated to illuminating histories grounded in place, memory, and justice. The company cultivates powerful narratives that rise from the soil of lived experience, honoring ancestral wisdom, preserving cultural memory, and amplifying stories too often left untold. Through documentary film, oral history, and cultural storytelling, Sweet Soil Narratives uplifts underrepresented voices and preserves the enduring legacies of Black communities in the American South and beyond. It partners with individuals, organizations, and communities to co-create stories that foster healing, deepen understanding, and inspire transformative social change.
